A Kingdom Response in a Political Age

Then the Pharisees went and plotted how they might entangle Him in His talk. And they sent to Him their disciples with the Herodians, saying, “Teacher, we know that You are true, and teach the way of God in truth; nor do You care about anyone, for You do not regard the person of men. Tell us, therefore, what do You think? Is it lawful to pay taxes to Caesar, or not?” But Jesus perceived their wickedness, and said, “Why do you test Me, you hypocrites?  Show Me the tax money.” So they brought Him a denarius. And He said to them, “Whose image and inscription is this?” They said to Him, “Caesar’s.” And He said to them, “Render therefore to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and to God the things that are God’s.” When they had heard  these words,  they marveled, and left Him and went their way.

(Matthew 22:15-22 NKJV)

The Kingdom of God and Politics are Two Different Entities. One is Earthly...the Other is Spiritual. One is Temporal the Other is Eternal.

Don't try to Spiritualize the Political... Instead Approach the Political with a Kingdom Perspective. If you spiritualize the political, you are in danger of coming under the influence of a wrong spirit. If you look to the political system for answers, you'll be disappointed every time. You will form your positions with wrong information and from a humanistic perspective. If you look to the Kingdom for answers, then you will approach political decisions with a Kingdomperspective and with Godly wisdom. We as Believers need to be involved in politics just as we need to be involved in every facet of society, but we need to be involved for a Kingdom purpose, not political purpose.

Isn't it interesting that some politicians begin to label themselves as Christians and begin to speak "Christianese" during their campaigns? And time after time many Christians fall for it! The Bible teaches us to test according to fruit, not talk! What our country desperately needs is for Believers to approach and prepare for the coming elections by asking God for wisdom, perspective, and insight into how to vote. Don't be drawn in by those who say what you want to hear, and don't allow your mind to come under the influence of a political spirit. Render unto Caesar what is Caesar's and unto God what is God's.

The most powerful force you have on the earth is your influence! Allow the Kingdom of God within you to release it's influence through you. In doing so, you'll be doing this great country an amazing favor!

Blessings,

Scott
